Reduce anxiety with essential oils

Anxiety is the body’s way of reacting to physical or emotional threat. We also may get anxiety for things that might appear. It is normal to have anxiety at times, but for some people is stays for longer periods of times and it’s difficult to get rid of. If anxiety stays for longer periods of time, it’s good to see medical professionals about that. A lot of people get benefits from healthy way of living, exercise, meditation and yoga. Aromatherapy can also help anxiety at home.

Anxiety often makes muscles tense. You can make your own massage oil with mixing:

  • 3 tea spoons of cold pressed vegetable oil
  • 2 drops of geranium oil
  • 2 drops of lavender oil
  • 1 drop of basil oil

You can also put couple of drops geranium and lavender oil to diffuser.

Anxiety may cause sleeplessness. You can help sleeplessness and also relax your muscles with adding camomile or lavender oil to your tea. You can also rub two drops of them to your temples and put two drops to your steamer when going to bed.

Geranium was completely unfamiliar to me. It is amazing with treating skin and hair. It has been used for making hair and skin beautiful since the Egyptian times. Geranium oil is diffused from the whole geranium plant. The scent of geranium is beautiful and you can make your own 100% pure perfume. The aroma of geranium releases tension and stress. Think how wonderful, relaxing, pure parfume! You can mix geranium to your shampoo or conditioner and your night cream or make your own. Geranium is also told to repel insects.

Essential oils for athletes

The World Championships for athletes made me think about athletes and essential oils. How could an athlete or somebody who enjoys exercising use their oils? Here are some tips:

  • Relax achy or tired muscles and joints

Peppermint can be used to relax achy muscles and joints. Take couple of drops of peppemint (or doTerra’s Deep Blue oil blend) and mix it to coconut oil or some other carrier oil and massage it to the place you need. You can drink doTerra’s Peppermint oil by adding a drop to water or some other drink. Lavender can be used to relax and recover tired muscles.

  • Boost immune support

Clover and Frankincense has been proven to add white cell account in the laboratories, which helps your body to fight germs. You can add two drops, diluted with carrier oil to your wrists or bottom of your feet, for example. Frankincense also renews cells, so I put a couple of drops to it to my face every evening, double effect!

  • Clean sports gear in a non toxic way

Especially if you have a man in your life who loves to exercise, you may have noticed that sports gear brings extra odor in to your life. Lemon oil disinfects shoes, ends of the clubs and helmets, where there is bacteria. You can either wipe with a cloth with a couple of drops of lemon oil in it or make your own spray with lemon oil, water and maybe some castile soap (or doTerra’s cleaning concentrate). Lemon makes stains fade in the sun, but it can also dilute colors, so be careful with that. If you want to make your whites whiter, that’s a good tip for that purpose. The smell of lemon, makes the sport gear smell nicer.

  • Avoid athlete’s foot and nail fungus or treat them

If you have ever suffered from athlete’s foot or nail fungus, you know those are nasty. Wiping your toe nails and feet with couple of drops of tea tree oil (Melaleuca) you can improve your chances with fight against bacteria. Swimming or showering in public places increases your chances in getting skin infections. Tea tree oil has been used since 1920’s in Australia to treat skin infections. I swim a lot in swimming halls. If I have any cuts in my feets or near my toe nails, I clean them with tea tree oil after to make sure I don’t get any infections.

Better sleep with essential oils

Are you ready for the world of essential oils?

Nothing is as easy as sleeping or falling a sleep when you are tired, or is it? Nothing is as terrible as staying awake, when you are super tired and you just can’t fall a sleep. People have different routines and tricks with falling a sleep, but what if you run out of tricks and nothing works? Have you tried essential oils? Could plants be a solution for better sleep for you and your family?

Back with the basics

Make sure first that you are doing things right with the basics. The most important things are healthy foods and exercise. We were made to eat healthy, exercise and sleep. Regardless of our age. Exercise helps you keep your blood pressure down and control your weight. It also helps you sleep. Just don’t exercise too close to your bed time. If you get hungry before going to bed, eat nuts. They have protein and fats in them that release energy and digest slowly. Many people are convinced that routines in a day are important for the kids, but they are important also for the adults, especially if you have trouble falling a sleep. Try to come up with great bed time routine and stick to it for 2-3 weeks and after that you don’t have to keep reminding your self of them.

Say NO to stimulating drinks and electronics before going to bed.

For some people drinking caffeine drinks before going to bed disrupts their sleeping and falling a sleep right away. If you want to drink coffee or tea in the evening, stick with the non caffeine ones, like rooibos and calming herbal tea (like chamomile) without green and black tea. There is some caffeine in white tea also. Same with the nicotine. You need to leave it out few hours before going to bed.

You should empty your bed room of all the electronics. If you want to read before falling a sleep, you should stick to books and magazines. I read newspapers late at night and if I’m not sleepy yet I switch to a book. Make sure also that it’s cool and quiet enough in your bed room. Some people are surprisingly sensitive to any noises from the next room and small amount of light. Trying asleep mask can be a good option.

Calming essential oils

Calming oils are bergamot and lavender. They have linalool in them, which is known to be relaxing. You can also use your steamer in your bedroom (or the kid’s bedroom) by putting two drops in the water. You can use Do Terra’s oils internally to calm your central nerves system or rub it to your temples, wrists or hairline. You can put a couple of drops to your water or tea.
