Gift idea from essential oils: Shower bomb

Hello everybody!

Here is an easy gift idea for Christmas or pampering yourself in the shower. A lot of people don’t have a bath, so here is some “aroma therapy” for the shower. A shower bomb dissolves into the water and brings “aroma”. You can use any essential oils for the recipe that you wish. I have a vlog, where I show how to make this recipe in Finnish, but you can watch it muted too) If you want to open the air ways or cheer up, peppermint and eucalyptus are great. Lavender is calming for the night. Citrus fruits bring freshness and energy.

1 portion (the amount of the bombs depends on their size, but there should be enough for one silicon tray)

  • 1 cup of baking soda
  • 1/3 cup of distilled water
  • 25 drops of doTerra’s essential oils

Mix them all together and make an even mixture. It needs to be pretty thick. Add more baking soda if needed. I had to add some! Divide the mixture to silicon trays and let it dry for 12-15 hours.

Essential oils for skin care

Hello!

I made today a vlog about skin care with essential oils. I go through different essential oils for different skin types (ageing and dry skin) and especially oily skin. I mention in the video a vlog, where I talk about how important it is to use pure essential oils. I made an article about this same topic, where I list all the oils that I talk about in this video and how to use them.

Essential oils for skin care

face-2662919_1920

Essential oils can balance, cleanse and renew your skin. It’s very important to check the quality of the essential oil brand you are using. Even if the label says 100% pure essential oil, unfortunately it doesn’t mean anything. Companies mix synthetic chemicals and other ingredients in them. There is no real regulation in the industry, other than what the companies do themselves. (I have a vlog about this)

You can improve the health of your skin tissue with good quality essential oils especially in your face and hands. You should dilute always your essential oils (except lavender and tea tree oil you can use directly in special circumstances) with jojoba, coconut or some other vegetable oil or with basic lotion without sent in it.

Here are tips for using essential oils for skin care:

  • Eucalyptus: Cooling and antiseptic, you can use for example for spots and boils.
  • Geranium: Contracting and balancing, cleans and firms the skin. Reduces inflammation and treats acne, eczema and little cuts.
  • Juniper berry: Contracting  and cleansing, can help with acne, eczema and oily skin. Don’t use while pregnant.
  • Lavender: Antiseptic and stops inflammation. It can reduce eczema, sun burn and mosquito bites. It can relieve mild burns in the skin. Lavender also increases cell growth and healing, so it can help with scars.
  • Roman chamomile: Calming and antiseptic, it’s good for sensitive and dry skin, relieves acne and eczema.
  • Sandal wood: Softens dry, ageing and wrinkly skin, it also can relieve sun burn, nettle-rash and other irritation in the skin.
  • Tea tree: Antiseptic and stops inflammation and fungus, it’s good for boils and skin rashes and other inflammation in the skin.

Foot scrub using essential oils

Hello!

I thought I would post another Christmas present tip for a lady who has it all. My first one was chemical free bath soap. Here is a recipe for my foot scrub. You can choose which essential oils you want to use. If you want to make a relaxing foot bath you can use lavender, geranium or frankincense. If you want something energizing, good choices are: Peppermint, doTerra’s Breath oil blend, eucalyptus, lemon and other citrus fruits.

Mix into a beautiful glass jar:

  • 3/4 cup epsom salt/ sea salt
  • 1/4 cup fractionated coconut oil/ olive oil/ almond oil
  • 10 drops of lavender oil
  • 10 drops of essential oil of your choice

Put your feet into a warm foot bath and rub your feet with salt mixture. Keep your feet in the salt water as long as it’s warm. You can get few foot baths from this amount. Only use this for healthy feet.

Make up tricks with essential oils

I am always on a look out for the perfect mascara! Those who know me, know that I am quite the mascara snob. Here are couple of recipes I have got from Ange Peters.

Tip number 1.

Add a drop of doTerra lavender or rosemary essential oil to your mascara for strengthening your lashes and better their condition. Put a drop or two to your mascara and shake it well. Also move the mascara wand up and down couple of times.

Tip number 2.

Add a drop of doTerra peppermint oil to your lip gloss the same way as lavender oil to your mascara or mix it together in another place. Your lips should get fuller. Make sure that you don’t have cold sores or cuts in your lips since peppermint essential oil is strong.

Essential oils for stronger nails

how-to-use-essential-oils

Sometimes I have thought about, how you get used to your nails and think that that’ s the way they are always going to look like. The history with my nails has changed a lot! I had very good nails growing up and as a teenager. Than they got worse (I believe due to my diet). I had acrylic nails for years and two years ago I notices that my nails were very long and strong. I can’t really bend them. Something had clearly changed, because they use to break all the time.

My number one tip for strong nails are green vegetables like spinach and broccoli. I put them icy in my morning smoothie and add some green powder too. That is the only change I have made to my diet addition to cutting back a lot of diary. Coconut oil gets into my nails a lot, because I dilute my essential oils almost daily. I have read that almond oil is also good for the nails.

Here are some tips for improving your nails with essential oils:

  • Calendula oil is great for nails and cuticles. Add calendula oil or lotion for your DIY nail products
  • Tea tree oil is good for treating nail fungus (read more here about taking care of your feet with oils). Add two drops of tea tree oil to two table spoons of almond oil and apply it to your nails and cuticles.
  • For other infections in your nails and cuticles you can use eucalyptus or patchouli oil in same ratio as tea tree oil.
