Our summer season in our allotment garden cabin is in full force and I found myself thinking which essential oils should I take along. For bug bites, cuts etc. doTerra’s tea tree oil (Melaleuca) is great. It disinfects naturally and calms irritated skin. You can apply couple of drops straight to the skin, but for larger area, sensitive skin or kids, I would use a carrier oil. Terrashield spray is very easy to grab if you don’t want to take carrier oil with you.
Onguard spray that has alcohol, citrus, clove and cinnamun is a great alternative to regural disinfection sprays. Now in corona season, I barely leave my house without it. It has alcohol that kills the bacteria and viruses, but doesn’t have all the other chemicals. It has the plants that boost your own immune system.
Lavender is calming, if you need help to sleep in a strange place. Deep Blue rub is very powerful for relaxing aching muscles, if they get stuck in all the planting work or sleeping in a not so comfirtable bed.
Leaves on trees, some flowers are starting to bloom and more light! I love it! I made my self a natural scalp spray to freshen up and cool my scalp.
Years ago I had to reduce the amount of chemicals in my hair and scalp. My scalp started to regurlarly get irritated with hair coloring, dry shampoo and all the chemicals I was dumpig on it. Sometimes it still gets dry and irritated. This has been a wonderdul recipe for me and my son, who has the same problem sometimes. You can apply it to dry or wet scalp.
Easy natural scalp spray recipe (shake always before use):
If you are looking for a parfume that doesn’t have any added chemicals, add your favorite essential oils to fractionated coconut oil and put it into a little spray bottle or a glass jar. My favorites are: Ylang Ylang, Sandelwood and if I need more energy citrus fruits (wild orange, lime and mandarin).
Make sure that the essential oils that you have don’t have any additives in them (Watch this for more info). DIY parfume like this can have added benefits like energy boosting or relaxing essential oils.
Finland is 102 years old today and that is just great! Christmas is coming and some people are tired and suffering from cold. I wrote few weaks ago a blog, where I gave tips on how to use essential oils for cold and tireness!
I wanted to share some Christmas offers that came again this year. 2 lava rock diffusers that cost 17 euros that you can use your oils with. Last year doTerra run out of them. I wrote last year about them in my blog. If you are interested in them for you or a friend just email me: sanna.tiisanoja (at) mail.com
In this year Holiday Joy oil blend came to the market. It has clove, cinneman bark and wild orange in it.It costs 30e. You can get it as long as doTerra has it.
I think it’s safe to say: Fall is here in Turku. We have colder mornings and evenings. Fall leaves are not yet yellow. Nor the overwhelming work with the rake yet here.
Here are some tips for using essential oils in fall time:
Couple of drops of f.e eucalyptus, peppermint, doTerra’s Onguard blend (it has wild orange peel, clover and cinnamon bark). I need a pick me up, when I am having a cold. I love doTerra’s Motivate oil blend. It has clementine, peppermint and coriander. It’s my favorite even without a cold right now.
Light and joy to the tired ones
During the dark nights of winter, rosmary and pine tree smells reliese noradrealin, which can help for tiredness. You can add couple of drops of them diluted on to your skin or into your diffuser.
Waiting for Christmas
Two drops of cardamom mixed to your skin lotion, helps to get your liquids moving. Cardamom also has warming sensation, that feels wonderful in your cold feet. Cardamom can be mixed to cinnamon bark during Christmas or to some citrus, if you want a pick me up.
It’s officially fall here in Finland! Try to keep your spirits up! I have been loving my new Ylang Ylang essential oil, that decreases stress and lifts my mood. It’s wonderful to diffuse in the evenings. I use it sometimes also as a perfume on my wrists. I wrote a short article about the benefits of Ylang Ylang.
I have found a wonderful essential oil to my collection, cypress! For me it works as an addition to the treatment for my back. I love my peppermint too, but especially during night-time, cypress is great.
adds vitality and calms emotions
is great for runners and people who are on their feet a lot
Greetings from hot Turku! I get often asked about self made cleaners. Why use them instead of cleaners from the store? Do they do a good job with cleaning? I made a short vlog about it. A recipe for the all-purpose cleaner that I talk about in the vlog is here.
