Ticks, they ruin the summer day very easily! How to get rid of ticks, before you need to be pulling them out and worrying about lyme disease? My inspiration for this post came from my own midsummer festivities. We were in a beautiful place, that had high grass and low trees with leafs. Luckily nobody got a tick from our group, except our friends’ dog! Our neighbor’s little boy, who is the same age as my son, got a tick from his trip! There are a lot of ticks on the coast.

How do you repel the ticks with as little toxins as possible? I get chills of the idea of showering all those chemicals on to my little boy. And I don’t want those either. You will get a good tick repellent (works also well to other bugs) by mixing some carrier oil (for example olive, coconut and jojoba oil) to lemon, eucalyptus or peppermint oil. Just mix two drops to the carrier oil and rub it into your skin. If you want to make a mixture add 20 drops to a small bottle of oil. Remember to apply it to your skin often enough! I know people who take a little bit of essential oil to their hands and quickly wipe their legs and arms. For kids, seniors and people with sensitive skin, it is recommended to dilute the essential oils. Remember to cover your skin with clothing, especially when working in the bushes or kids playing there.
